Day 1 to ARC

Wow!!  What a great first day on our way to the Air Race Classic.  Thanks friends and hubbies for seeing us off from KOPF.

Our first stop for fuel for the airplane and tummies was at KOCF (Ocala).  We were greeted by a young flight instructor who was on a long cross country from KFXE who said, "Are you on your way to fly in the Air Race?"  He noticed the large numbers on the tail of N37TJ as well as our matching shirts.  He was involved with racing teams from Purdue University.  What a welcoming feeling that was.

When we left KOCF, headwinds were 19K and at times we felt like we were flying backwards.  We noticed our ETA kept increasing.  However, the miles decreased so we knew we were making some progress.

We landed and spent the night at an adorable grass strip, called Shade Tree MS82 where we were graciously welcomed by 99, Janet Miller, and her husband Danny.  This is like an airplane toy land.
